Temple sits on the I-35 corridor between Austin and Waco, which makes it a hub for commuters, medical professionals, and military families connected to Fort Cavazos. It also means a steady volume of highway driving, busy parking lots, and exposure to the same Texas weather that puts dents on vehicles across Central Texas.
If your car has a dent, whether it came from a hailstorm, a parking lot mishap, or something bouncing off the highway, paintless dent repair is the fastest and most cost-effective way to fix it. Dingz Happen has been doing PDR across the Greater Austin area and I-35 corridor for over 10 years, and we serve Temple and the surrounding Bell County communities.
Paintless dent repair removes dents without repainting. Our technicians use specialized metal rods to access the back side of a dented panel and carefully push the metal back to its original position. For dents where back-side access isn’t possible, we use glue pull techniques: adhesive tabs are bonded to the surface, and the dent is pulled out with calibrated force.
Both methods rely on metal memory. Automotive sheet metal has a natural tendency to return to its factory shape when manipulated correctly. The result is a panel that looks exactly like it did before the damage, with the original paint completely intact.
No filler. No repainting. No waiting days for paint to cure. Most PDR repairs are finished in one to four hours.
A single door ding at a body shop typically costs $500 or more when paint is involved. The same dent repaired with PDR runs $75 to $250. For military families budgeting on a fixed income or anyone watching their expenses, that’s a meaningful difference. Our pricing guide explains what factors influence the final cost.
Body shops quote 3 to 7 business days for a painted repair. PDR gets it done the same day in most cases. You don’t need to arrange alternate transportation, and you don’t lose your vehicle during the work week.
Repainting a panel goes on your vehicle’s history. At trade-in time, a repainted panel can reduce the value by $500 or more per panel. PDR leaves no trace because the factory paint is never removed. For anyone planning to sell or trade in down the road, this matters.
PDR is a mechanical process. No paint booths, no solvent disposal, no VOC emissions. It’s one of the few auto repair methods that produces zero chemical waste.
Temple’s commercial areas along SW H.K. Dodgen Loop and the shopping centers near I-35 produce a constant supply of door dings. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center alone has enormous parking structures where doors get opened into adjacent vehicles daily. These small, shallow dents are exactly what PDR was designed for.
Bell County sits in a hail-prone corridor. Primary hail season runs March through May, with secondary activity in September and October. A bad storm can leave 50 to 200+ dents on a single vehicle. PDR is the standard method for hail repair because it handles volume efficiently and preserves the factory finish.

I-35 between Temple and Austin carries heavy commercial traffic, and loose debris from trucks and trailers hits vehicles regularly. Hood dents and front fender damage from road debris are common. If the paint isn’t cracked, PDR can typically restore the panel without any visible evidence of the repair.
Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) brings a large population of military families to Temple. Many service members are stationed temporarily, which means vehicle condition at resale or return matters. PDR preserves the clean vehicle history that helps maintain trade-in and resale value. No repaint records, no body work flags.
PDR works when the paint is intact and the metal isn’t severely creased or stretched. It handles dents from dime-sized dings to softball-sized depressions. Location on the vehicle matters too, but experienced technicians can access most areas including roof panels, quarter panels, and tight spots near body lines.
PDR won’t work if the paint is cracked, the metal is torn, or the damage involves plastic bumper covers. We always assess before quoting and will tell you honestly if a dent needs a different approach. Read more in our post on what dents can and can’t be fixed with PDR.
Comprehensive auto insurance covers hail damage repair, and we work directly with insurance companies on claims. The Texas Department of Insurance (tdi.texas.gov) guarantees your right to choose your own repair shop, so you’re never obligated to use whoever the insurance company recommends.
For smaller repairs like individual door dings, most customers pay out of pocket. PDR prices often fall below the typical comprehensive deductible, making a claim unnecessary. We break down the decision in detail in our insurance pros and cons article.
Mobile service is available for qualifying repairs. We can come to you in Temple so you don’t have to rearrange your day.

Yes. Temple is about an hour south on I-35 from our Cedar Park shop. We regularly work with customers from Temple, Belton, Killeen, and the Fort Cavazos military community.
PDR requires access to the bare metal behind the panel. If a panel already has body filler from a previous repair, the filler blocks the metal memory that PDR depends on. We’ll identify any previously repaired panels during the estimate and let you know your options.
Hospital parking lots and garages see heavy daily traffic in tight spaces. Door dings from adjacent vehicles are extremely common, especially in the multi-story garages. These are classic PDR repairs — small, shallow dents with intact paint.
We work with all major carriers — State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Progressive, Geico, Farmers, and others. We handle adjuster coordination and documentation directly, so you don’t have to manage the back-and-forth yourself.
Temple drivers deal with dents from crowded parking at the Marketplace and along General Bruce Drive. PDR fixes it fast without body shop wait times. Here are a few recent jobs.
Marsh had a dent in the hood of his Land Cruiser. Two body shops told him they’d need to repaint the entire hood for over $1,500. We got underneath the hood brace, found our access point, and used a whale tail PDR tool to slowly push the dent out from behind. Took extra care around the reinforcement ribs in the hood to avoid creating new pressure points.
Done in one day, no paint needed, for about a third of what the other shops quoted. Factory finish stays intact and the resale value holds.

John had a tough dent that a body shop wanted nearly $1,000 to fix. Their plan was to fill, sand, and repaint.
We got behind the panel with a PDR rod and worked the metal back into shape. No filler, no sanding, no new paint. The original factory finish stayed intact, which matters for long-term durability and resale value.
Saved him most of the body shop quote. That’s the whole point of paintless dent repair: better result, less money, less time.

Chris swiped a painted curb with his Impreza Sport. Dent in the front bumper plus red paint streaks. Body shops wanted over $1,000 to repaint the whole bumper.
Bumper work is different from metal panel PDR. The bumper cover is plastic, so we used heat to make it pliable, then pushed it back into shape from behind. For the paint transfer from the curb, we used a clay bar and rubbing compound to lift the foreign paint without cutting into Chris’s clear coat.
He wasn’t expecting perfection, just wanted it cleaned up. That’s exactly what we delivered, for significantly less than a full respray.
